Allan in front of Fenway Studios, Boston MA

The Fenway studios were built after the fire of the artists' studios complex in another part of Boston. Architects Parker and Thomas designed the new Fenway building. Each of the 46 studios had north light windows measuring 12 foot high and 14 foot tall ceilings with fireplaces at both ends. Mr. Gammell had his own studio along with one for students to work in.

Visit to Fenway Studios

Meeting R. H. Ives Gammell for the first time in 1976. Following our meeting Mr. Gammell suggested we work at his Williamstown Home and Studios for the rest of the summer. Years later I wrote about the experience from my notes during that time, "Inside the Studio of R. H. Ives Gammell'. It was my great honor to have experienced the mentorship of Mr. Gammell, who was perhaps THE most important figure in the latter half of the 20th century in the arts.
